Adoption of Major Amendment to the Whitsunday Regional Council Planning Scheme 2017

Notice is given pursuant to Section 293 of the Planning Act 2016 and the Ministers Guidelines and Rules 2023 that on 27 September 2023 Whitsunday Regional Council decided to adopt a Major Amendment and Administrative Local Government Infrastructure Plan Amendment to the Whitsunday Regional Council Planning Scheme 2017 (Version 4.7).
The Planning Scheme Major Amendment will commence on 3 October 2023.
The purpose and general effect of the amendment is to address:
- issues raised in the rounds of consultation for the formation of the Planning Scheme (2015 – 2017);
- amendments to achieve compliance with the State Planning Policy;
- inclusion of Airlie Beach and Bowen Local Plans, a Building Heights Overlay and additional Planning Scheme Policies for Waste and Stormwater Management;
- Updates to Development Codes, Overlay Codes and Associated Mapping;
- Various zone amendments; and
- Updates to administrative definitions and mapping in accordance with the State Planning Policy.
A copy of the amended Whitsunday Regional Council Planning Scheme V4.7 is available on Council’s website; or for inspection or purchase at Whitsunday Regional Council’s Customer Service Centres, located at:
