Mayor's Charity Ball

With the deepest regret, Mayor Andrew Willcox and the organising team have made the decision to cancel the 2021 Mayor’s Charity Ball which was to be held on August 28.

This difficult decision was made in light of the uncertainty that still remains around Covid with the new Delta strain causing huge disruptions in southern Queensland and other states.

“We don’t want to create any more heartache or distress for sponsors, suppliers and our community with a last minute call so have drawn a line in the sand and made the decision to cancel,” Mayor Willcox said.

“There are months of planning, scheduling and logistics behind organising this event and myself and the committee have made the decision based on everyone’s safety and a thorough risk assessment.

“On a positive note the vaccine rollout is ramping up to allow increased resilience to the impacts of Covid so fingers crossed that next year we can put our dancing shoes on and raise valuable funds for RACQ CQ,” he said.

All ticketholders to the sold out event will be given the option of a full refund or having their ticket carry over to the 2022 event - contact Council on 1300 972 753.
