Join us this NAIDOC Week as we celebrate with events held across the region.

2023 National NAIDOC Week theme is For Our Elders. Across every generation, our Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place in our communities and families.

Please join us as we celebrate with events across the region: 

 

To show our respect for Our Elders during NAIDOC week Mayor Julie Hall and CEO, Warren Bunker invite you to attend a morning tea followed by a screening of Episode 1 of Black Snow at either of the following locations:

Celebrations continue for children and families at the libraries. Join in the fun with a Sea of Fish Challenge which families can come and participate in at any time in their local branch as this is a self-led activity.

 

NAIDOC special story time with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Indigenous Rangers

We will also have the 2023 Welcome Whales Community Artwork that Casey McAvoy created with the Whitsunday community on display at the following locations and times during NAIDOC week:
