Water Saving Tips

There are many ways to conserve water and save money on your water bills by reducing water usage in and around your home. Every drop of water you can save makes a difference in conserving our community's water supply. Be waterwise and make a difference by making simple changes in your day-to-day life!

Saving water at home

• Keep your showers to 4 minutes. 2 minutes less in the shower saves up to 30 litres of water!
• Use as little water as possible in the bath by placing the plug in before you turn on the tap and fill the bath to less than a third full
• Turn the tap off while you're brushing your teeth or shaving
• Wait until your dishwasher or washing machine is fully loaded before you turn it on
• Rinse vegetables in a bowl and then use the water on your garden
• Store drinking-water in the fridge - running the tap until it's cool wastes up to 15 litres a minute
• Don't flush the toilet needlessly and use the half-flush option when possible

Saving water in your garden

• Mulch your garden to retain soil moisture
• Only water your lawn once a week for an hour
• Only water your garden every second day for 30 minutes
