Bushfire Management
Bushfires are a natural part of the Australian landscape and have the potential to cause serious social, economic and environmental damage, if not managed correctly.
We take bushfire management in our region very seriously. We work closely with the State Government and local fire brigades to manage the fuel loads on Council-managed land and nearby State Forests and National Parks.
The key purpose of bushfire management is to reduce the risk to nearby residents from out-of-control bushfires.

Prescribed Burns
We work closely with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and local Rural Fire Brigades to coordinate prescribed burns and hazard reduction burns to reduce fuel loads, at key locations across the Region.
There are currently no prescribed burns.
Council would like to apologise in advance for the smoke which will be produced from the fires.
Council recommends monitoring the smoke levels and direction each day and take actions to reduce smoke entering your house and affecting laundry. Council would also like to request landholders to clear out gutters and remove unwanted green waste from your backyards before this weekend. If conditions are not favourable close to the desired dates, the burns may not eventuate.
