The Whitsunday Region is an ideal location for any event, from weddings to business and sporting events, conferences, gala dinners and festivals. We have a range of venues available to the community, and information about these is listed below.

Hire a park, foreshore or community facility

To hire a park, foreshore, community facility or sportsground owned by Council, you must complete an Event Application Form, including an indemnity form and Statutory Declaration, at least one month prior to your event.

Events are classified according to the type of event and number of people expected to attend. The application will be assessed based on these criteria:

Event Class Type No. of Attendees Application Deadline
Class 1 - Large Events >1000 people 3 months prior to event
Class 2 - Medium Events 200 - 1000 people 3 months prior to event
Class 3 - Small Events <200 people 1 month prior to event
Class 4 - Weddings <200 people 1 month prior to event
Class 5 - Group Gatherings <50 people 1 month prior to event

Our hardworking Parks and Gardens team tirelessly maintain all our beaches, parks and reserves. Most areas have access to amenities blocks close by and power can be accessed by prior arrangement at most sites.

It is important that Council receives a months’ notice to avoid double booking, ensure the area is not scheduled for garden work or sand maintenance at the time and ensure the sprinklers are turned off during your ceremony/event.

Hire fees are applicable and can be found in our Fees and Charges document. Please note, a bond may be required in certain circumstances, which will be refunded after the event if the site is left in a suitable condition.
