Next date: Thursday, 21 May 2026 | 02:00 PM
to 03:00 PM
Whitsunday Regional Libraries is proud to bring the Sydney Writers’ Festival to our community through the Live & Local program.
This initiative connects our libraries to one of Australia’s leading literary events, streaming selected sessions directly into our branches so local audiences can experience inspiring conversations without leaving the region.
Join us for a curated selection of sessions featuring some of today’s most celebrated voices, including Stephanie Alexander, Trent Dalton, and Susan Choi.
Whether you’re a passionate reader, an aspiring writer, or simply curious, these sessions offer a unique opportunity to hear from leading authors, explore new ideas, and connect with stories that resonate.
All sessions are free and will be livestreamed at your local library as part of our commitment to bringing enriching cultural experiences to the Whitsundays.
Stephanie Alexander's career in food has spanned five decades, during which time she’s authored 18 books, including The Cook's Companion–the bible for Australian cooks originally published in 1996 and now reissued in 2026 for the 30th anniversary edition. In 2004, she launched the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, teaching children about growing, preparing, cooking and sharing delicious, seasonal food. Stephanie has inspired generations of home cooks and fundamentally transformed the way we think about food in this country.
