The PCYC was officially opened by the Premier, The Honourable Peter Beattie MP on Thursday 12th June 2003.

The PCYC operates out of the Airlie Beach Sports and Entertainment Centre situated at the Whitsunday Sports Park, Jubilee Pocket. The centre includes a Sports Hall, a Function Room, Training Rooms, an Art Space, a Youth Space and Kiosk. The sports hall caters for a number of activities including a full size Basketball, Netball and Indoor Soccer court; three Volleyball courts and a number of Badminton courts.

The Function Room caters for Blue Light Dance Parties, Movies and other functions. There are Pool Tables, Play Station Games and fast Internet access available in the Youth Space. A number of activities are held at the PCYC including vacation care and play groups. The PCYC operates on a membership basis for both families and individuals.
