Whitsunday Regional Council has purchased a new eco-friendly street sweeper and scrubber for use on main streets across the region.
Deputy Mayor John Collins said that new plant was a fantastic asset for Council with early trials in Airlie Beach Main Street showing more efficient and effective results.
“The new street sweeper and scrubber will service the main street areas in Airlie Beach, Proserpine, Bowen and Collinsville,” Cr Collins said.
“These high use areas of our region require daily attention to keep our townships looking clean and welcoming for our residents and visitors; we will see first-class results,” he said.
“The street sweeper is ideal for diverse use in confined locations such as footpaths, kerbs and outside shopfronts and it has range of adjustable brushes and a powerful suction turbine for maximum results.
“Known as the environmentally friendly sweeper, it has an extensive water system to ensure optimal binding of dust and clean exhaust air, providing minimal disturbance to pedestrians and the environment.”
“Once we have finalised trials for use of the new sweeper Council’s work crews will operate a maintenance schedule across the Whitsunday Region.
