Whitsunday Regional Council today presented the Whitsunday Youth Committee; Y Factor with six cheques totalling $9,100 for them to distribute to local community organisations.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said late last year Y Factor decided to dissolve as an organisation and asked Council, as custodian of their fundraising account, to help distribute their remaining funds.
“Council is pleased to present these six cheques to Y Factor so they can disburse their remaining funds accumulated over their years of fundraising,” she said.
“Y Factor representatives will now present the six cheques to local community organisations of their choosing.
“Y Factor should be commended for their outstanding community contribution and generous spirit.
“The committee members of Y Factor were today also presented with certifications of appreciation by Council for their work with the community.
“Over the many years that the committee was in place Y Factor undertook youth projects, raised funds to support the community and in the process the young members gained valuable skills.”
The Y Factor committee has selected the following not for profit organisations to donate their funds to:• Stand For The Silent: $3,000• Whitsunday Crisis and Counselling: $2,000• Proserpine Nursing Home: $1,000• Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre: $700• Proserpine YouthSpace: $1,700• Meals on Wheels: $700
The Y Factor committee requested the support of Council to engage with the community and undertake their final presentation to hand over funds to their selected organisations.
