Last Council meeting, Whitsunday Regional Council awarded the supply contract to TORGAS Incfor the provision of Councils apprenticeship positions through a Group Training Organisation
Mayor Jenny Whitney said the offer for the supply of Council’s apprentice program by TORGAS Inc was viewed as the most advantageous by the tender evaluation panel.
“TORGAS Inc is a Townsville based not-for-profit organisation, with dedicated resources basedwithin the Whitsunday region, operating as a commercial business providing apprentices andtrainees to businesses throughout Queensland,” she said.
TORGAS CEO Mr George Peever said the TORGAS Team is delighted to be the successfultenderer.
“We are looking forward to working closely with Council to recruit and manage the training of theapprentices from their commencements to their successful completions,” he said.
As part of Council’s organisational structure the budgeted number of apprenticeship positionsinclude:
• Mechanical Apprenticeships x 2 positions• Fitting/Turning Apprenticeships x 2 positions• Electrical Apprenticeships x 1 position• Plumbing Apprenticeships x 7 positions
During the remainder of the 2014-15 financial year there will be five apprenticeship positions thatwill be finalised and available for new recruitment.
The remaining seven apprenticeship positions will be finalised in the 2015 and 2016 financialyears.
