Whitsunday Regional Council welcomes the Federal Government’s announcement of $4.4 million
in Roads to Recovery funding for the Whitsunday region over the next 4 years.
Mayor Jenny Whitney said this funding which will be allocated from the 2014-15 financial year
through to the 2018-19 financial year will help Council deliver more than 20 vital local road
upgrades.
“Along with fixing up some of our local roads, this funding will be a great boost for local businesses and contractors employed by Council on the road upgrade projects,” she said.
“Council has identified four specific projects which will be funded by the $734,865 available for the Whitsunday Regional Council for this financial year under Roads to Recovery.
“This funding will help to keep our local roads across the Whitsunday region safer and will also be a welcome boost to the local economy,” she said.
The projects identified for Roads to Recovery funding in the 2014-15 year include:
• Livingstone and Leichhardt Street Roundabout, Bowen
• Bluewater Parade, Bowen
• Valley Drive, Cannonvale
• Coral Esplanade, Cannonvale
These projects were approved by Whitsunday Regional Council to apply for Road to Recovery
funding as part of the 2014-2015 budget deliberations.

which will be carried out in future years under Roads to Recovery.
