Whitsunday Regional Libraries will provide an exciting range of free activities for children during the December / January school holiday period.
Mayor Andrew Willcox said that in December, all libraries will offer a variety of Christmas themed art & craft sessions and help children get into the spirit of the season!
“It’s a great time of year for kids and our libraries provide the perfect environment for them to use their creativity to make and take home decorations, gifts and goodies,” Cr Willcox said.
“Some of the activities include making wreaths, cards, ornaments, gifts and miniature Christmas trees,” he said.
“The Summer Reading Club will also be happening again with this year’s theme titled Game On to celebrate our Aussie sporting culture, team-mateship and the countries who will be visiting Australia to participate in the Commonwealth Games.”
A wide range of fun activities will run throughout January but places are limited for most activities so interested parents and children should ring their local library and book in early.
Not all activities will be available at all centres and age limits apply to some activities. Parents are also reminded that children under 8 years must be accompanied and supervised by an adult when visiting the libraries.
