Local and Queensland Residents 

Can I Join?

Membership with the Whitsunday Regional Libraries is free to all Whitsunday and Queensland residents upon  presentation of identity and proof of residency. Forms of identity can be the following:  

  • Rates notice with Whitsunday or Queensland address
  • Current lease agreements for a period of 6 months in the Whitsunday  or Queensland (rental agreement with date).
  • Enrolled on Federal/State electoral roll at a Queensland address (current electoral roll card).
  • Current driver's licence with a Queensland residential address.
  • For those under 18 years of age a parent/guardian can provide one of the above
How Do I Join?

You can join the library by providing identification of one of the above and completing a membership application at your local library or join online.
   
As a Parent / Guardian / Borrower you are responsible for: 
 
  • All items loaned on the card including those borrowed by other users of the card
  • All items loaned by any junior or young adult member that you have given permission to join
  • Paying charges set by Council on lost & damaged items
  • Updating a change of address and advising loss of card immediately.

International and Interstate Visitors

Interstate and non-Australian residents may join as a Lifetime Visitor member on limited borrowing upon payment of a non-refundable $51.00 deposit.  Lifetime members also have access to e-resources (eBooks, eAudiobooks and E-magazines)

Borrowing Quotas
A limit of 20 items per card may be borrowed at any one time.

Loan Periods
All items have a three week loan period, except reference material, eBooks and eAudiobooks. Selected non circulating material may be borrowed overnight. Ebooks and eAudiobooks have a two week loan period.

Reservations
A maximum of five reservations per user applies, including Inter-Library Loans.

Items may be renewed over the phone or online, provided the item is not reserved by another user.

How do I renew my library book?

  1. Go to the Library Online catalogue
  2. Go to “log-in”
  3. You will need you library card number and password
  4. Your card number is on the back of your card and starts with a “W”. Your default password is your date of birth for example; 200171. If you have nominated another password use this. Please check with library staff if unsure.
  5. Go to “my details”
  6. Click on “items on loan”
  7. Click in the “box” next to the item that you wish to renew.
  8. Then click the “renew” button
  9. A message should inform you of a successful loan
  10. If the process is unsuccessful contact the library staff
Reasons for unsuccessful renews may be:

  • too many renewals
  •  item is on reserve for another borrower, or,
  • the item has been recalled
