Libraries

In line with Stage 3 of the Queensland Government’s Easing of Restrictions, as of 6 July 2020 the Whitsunday Regional Libraries are allowed up to 100 customers as per the one person per 4m2 ruling.  Visitors to the library can now use the facility at their leisure with the reintroduction of furniture in line with 1.5m social distancing, access to free WiFi within the library and the reading of newspapers (with the use of gloves only).  However, usage of the public computers is still capped at 30 minutes.  All visitors are required to give library staff contact tracing information (name, address and mobile/phone number) and sanitise their hands upon entering the library with gloves available for use for their protection and the protection of the collection.

Our Home Delivery service within the community has now resumed.  Limited First 5 Forever children’s activities will recommence from 13 July with Storytime and Baby Bounce sessions taking place once again in the library (capped attendance numbers).  You will be able to book these sessions via Eventbrite as of 12pm Tuesday, 7 July via the Whitsunday Regional Council’s Facebook page.

In addition to the Whitsunday Regional Libraries fantastic range of free online resources such as ebooks, audio books, movies, and magazines, virtual library sessions such as story-time, baby bounce and maker-moments will continue on Council’s Facebook page.
